Sylvia comes from Nabukaluka Village in Naitasiri, with maternal ties to Waikete, Nakelo. She is a senior sales representative at RC Manubhai, one of Fiji’s largest hardware companies. Her husband, Alester Whippy, is a construction contractor from Kasavu, Vanua Levu.

At the start of 2025, Sylvia and Alester were blessed with their first grandchild when their eldest daughter, Stacey, and her husband, church member Paul Lal, welcomed a baby girl, Maya, in March. Together, Sylvia and Alester are proud parents of four children—Stacey, Julian, Joshton, and David—and now joyful grandparents as well.
